Palin, an insult to women? Come on!

In this fifth video, Justin and I argue over Palin’s pick being an insult to women. I, of course, disagree and think that this attitude is why she has rallied so many within the Republican party.

Palin’s Record and McCain’s “Change”

This is really what the RNC convention did. It changed the debate about experience and made it about change. In his selection of VP, McCain took away one of his biggest political targets about Obama, his record. Obama conveniently compensated this weakness by selecting Joe Biden as his running mate a week earlier. McCain also took on as a platform issue, change, and thereby attacked Obama’s political strength. Fascinating decision. McCain appears to have selected a VP pick to compensate for his biggest weakness- being old and out of touch with younger change seeking voters. I know Justin doesn’t approve of McCain’s decision. In fact, I know it angers Justin (as indicated by his recent post)…but don’t worry, I’ll formulate a response in due time. But for now, let’s see this fourth video of Justin and I discussing Palin’s record and McCain’s change.

Patriotism, the Celebrity and Experience

In this third video, we discuss differences in the perceptions of patriotism, the celebrity status of Obama, and the changing issue of experience.

Rhetoric and Perceptions

In this second video, we discuss the different rhetoric used at both conventions and what our impressions were.

Convention Excitement

The hiatus on video posts is now over! Now they’re back - with new theme music and everything! The following videos are chopped down into 10 minute increments so we could get them onto YouTube (they have a crazy 10 minute limit). Let us know what you think. Since they are now shorter, we have more of them to post. Well here we go. Join our discussion. Tell us we’re right, wrong, or neither. We want to hear from you!!

In this first video, we discuss the excitement of both parties conventions.

Iran and extremism - those bearded crazies!

Justin and I discuss past, present, and future threats to our security- mostly coming from radical extremism in the middle east.  As usual, we don’t always agree…Asymetric Threats and Iran from Justin Bradshaw & Joel Van Brunt on Vimeo.

Energy and the Environment Part II

Justin and Joel continue their discussion on energy and the environment.  Why can’t the academics have this civil debate?   Instead, it seems that there is a specific movement not to debate.   Energy and the Environment Part II from Justin Bradshaw & Joel Van Brunt on Vimeo.

Energy and the Environment Part I

What’s the deal with our energy consumption and how it affects the environment?  Where’s the truth on this issue?

Barack, Wright, MLK, democrats, oh my!

Continuation of our discussions on the democratic primaries.

Barack vs. Hillary…can this even continue?
